Samsung has ‘bad news’ for budget smartphone buyers

NEW DELHI: Apple started the trend of not shipping chargers in the box. After Apple, Samsung also picked up the trend and shipped the Galaxy S21 series without a charger. Now it appears that Samsung has stopped shipping chargers with its budget smartphones as well.

According to a report by 9to6Google, Samsung is not shipping chargers with the Galaxy A23 and Galaxy A13 smartphones. As pointed out by Twitter user Sudhanshu Ambhore, some European retailers for the Galaxy A23 and Galaxy A13 mention that the phones will not come with the charging brick. 9to5Google also noticed a footnote in the press release of the Samsung Galaxy A23 that mentions the charger is ‘sold separately’. The footnote reads, “25W Super Fast Charging charger sold separately”.

The same note is listed with the Samsung Galaxy A13 smartphone. However, the same note is not present for the Samsung Galaxy M23 and Galaxy M33. This means that the company will still be shipping chargers with its mid-range affordable smartphones.

Samsung recently launched four new smartphones — Galaxy A23, Galaxy A13, Galaxy M23 and Galaxy M33 in the European market. Among similarities, the two Samsung Galaxy A-series smartphones sport a similar design and specifications and a quad-rear camera setup. In M-series phones, Samsung Galaxy M33 has a quad-rear camera setup, while the Galaxy M23 sports a triple rear camera setup.

Samsung has not yet revealed the prices of any of the new smartphones. However, as reported by GSMArena, the Samsung Galaxy A13 was spotted on the Dutch retailer’s website at a starting price tag of EUR 190.
